We have all been to government schools. There are a lot of services which the government provides to the students or at least promises to. Yet, without blinking an eye, we admit our children to private schools so that they have a future well secured. We blame the government and their servants for the apathy. In our childhood, we blamed the government. Now, we are blaming the government. In future too, we may most probably do the same. One day we will realise that in the process of never ending blame game, we never noticed that the other three fingers of our hand are pointed towards ourselves.

A lifetime well wasted!!

Students from government schools have been facing great challenges in terms of hygiene and sanitation. Many schools have insufficient number of toilets/latrines, which are often poorly designed and maintained. Specially for girls who are menstruating, these problems compound the difficulties due to their inability to afford for the sanitary napkins and on being surrounded by cultural taboos around menstruation. As a result, many students are suffering from ill health and therefore missing their school and sometimes they are even dropping out of school altogether. This is an added challenge to the already existing problems and hence Anarghya decided to address these sensitive issues with the following two projects.

Project ‘Butterfly’ : Provision of sanitary napkins, Menstrual Hygiene Management Education and facilities

Project ‘TRASH’ : Toilet Renovation, Sanitation and Hygiene facilities

Most of us are too good in consuming what we get, but when it comes to giving, it's not our job! Our vision doesn't go beyond the 6*4 choukath (door frame) of our home. Unfortunately, we as citizens of this country have been failing to perform.

Anarghya begs to differ. Anarghya looks for a change and we are sure we will put our best foot forward, this time out of our choukath.
